Tutorial – Xeerpa Dashboards: 3 – Exporting audiences

In our previous tutorial we learnt how to select a particular audience or target. With Xeerpa Dashboards we can export the data about these fans into a file, which we can open in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet application. Remember that the export will correspond to those fans seleted in the filter.

To export the data, simply click on the envelope icon in the filter bar and select the Excel option.

Xeerpa Dashboards will export different data depending on the screen where you are. For example:

– From the Home or Profiles pages: The export file will contain the most important details about each fan: Xeerpa id, name and surname, email, Facebook id, age, gender, marital status, birthday date, place of birth, scores and affinity to the various interest categories.

– From the Locations page: The export file will contain all the locations available for the selected fans, including the address, date and time and X and Y coordinates. Also included are their Xeerpa id, Facebook id, email, name and surname. Note that a particular fan may have more than one location; the various locations will be exported in separate rows.

– From the Education and Work page: The export file will contain the educational and professional profiles of the matching fans, including the name of the institution where the fan studied at, the name of the degree or course, the name of the company the fan worked or currently works at and the role. The file will also contain the Xeerpa id, Facebook id, email, name and surname.

How to open the export file in Excel

The export file is downloaded in CSV (comma-separated) format. To open it in Excel, you can follow these easy steps:.

Step 1: Create a new document and select Data > From Text. Select the exported .csv or .txt file

Step 2: In the import file wizard, select “Delimited” and “Unicode 6.1 UTF-8” as origin.

Step 3: We can leave Excel’s default options as they are:

ExcelTextImport.2

Step 4: Click on Advanced to make sure the decimal point is (“.”).

ExcelTextImport.3

Step 5: Click on Finish. A new screen will ask us for the location in the spreadsheet where we want to place the data from the file. Leave the default values and click on Finish.

With the information about your target audience exported, you can now launch your online marketing campaigns profiling the selected fans.

Our next tutorial will show you how to export data into a file ready to be imported into Facebook Custom Audiences.
